I haven't strayed very far from my roots. I grew up on a small farm just south of Hopkins where my family raised raspberries. Have you noticed that moniker on the Hopkins water tower that says, "Hopkins, the Raspberry Capital of the World" ? I like to think that my family contributed something signifigant to that lofly title. I certainly did not appreciate the status of that slogan when I was growing up and had to spend hot, sticky summer days in the raspberry patch. But now, with the price of raspberries, as it is, I'm thinking it might be really smart to have a small patch....or maybe even a LARGE patch of raspberries???? Well, I am beyond that, and anyway, our property is much too shady to raise raspberries. Thank God for that. I still live within a "stones-throw" of the homestead that I grew up on. My husband and I built our home in 1963 on a parcel of land that belonged to his grandfather. We are still in that same rambler that we bulilt just before we were married (but...please note. .. we have made improvements and updates over the years). For better or worse, we are entrenched in Minnesota and in our heritage. I have noticed how many of my classmates have retired and are enjoying winters in wonderful tropical climates. It really might be time to consider that. My husband retired several years ago and enjoys his free time. I need to give it serious consideration. It will be wonderful to get together with classmates from 1961. Like most of you, I can't believe it has been 50 years. PS: The website is fabulous! I think Don Michel deserves a great deal of the credit. If I am wrong, please let me know who is responsible for the great website. Karen |

Comment: Let me start by stating that I would not trade my hilgh school experience for any other time of my life. I have been blessed with a life partner for the last 52 years. Along the way I earned two advanced degrees and two certificates. Held leadership positions locally, nationally and internationally. Continue some of that now and added doing craft projects at a local Makerspace. Fran and I have visited over 50 countries and will start again in 2022. Enjoy the ride while it lasts. |
