Comment: I moved fom MN back to New York state within two weeks after graduation.  I missed my friends from the three years I had lived in MN and attended Hopkins.  After attending college in upstate NY, I worked as a high school English teacher for thirty years.

Four years after beginning my teaching career, in 1970, I met and married Mike.  We had two daughters, one of whom lives in WI , where she is attending school. My other daughter  lives in upstate NY, where she lives with her husband, works and is a volunteer fire fighter.

In 2000, my husband passed away after a long illness.  I retired, sold our house and moved to a condo.

Four years later, I received a phone call from my senior year high school sweetheart,  Dan who was a senior at  Minnetonka High School  when we dated in 1960-1961. He had tracked me  down after learning I was widowed.    We had not spoken for forty-four years! We corresponded by email and phone for a year before we met.  From that initial meeting and several which followed over the next three and a half year period, our friendship became much more. Two years ago, I moved to MN where we bought a house on a lake.  He built a new kitchen for me and a new shop for himself.  We garden, fish and work on mutual projects. We see his children and "the grands" as often as we and they can get together.

Sally Schaefer (Whealen)

Marital status: Married
Occupation: Retired Real Estate Broker
Comment: It is now 2021 and we have moved west from Silverthorne to the Grand Junction, Colorado area.  The altitude of 9,000 feet and long, long winters finally got to us.  Life here is good and we've made many new friends.

Keith continues as a real estate broker but has scaled down considerably...heaven help us that anything would get in the way of golf a minimum of three days a week.  The climate here allows him to play nearly all year round.

I am fully retired and fill my days with volunteering in the care center of Hope West, our local Hospice organization and participating in a book club. My love of needlepoint connected me with a national group here and we meet weekly.  I'm back to working out at our local rec center three days a week and as spring arrives I will be out in the garden until the temperature soars over 100.  We are high desert here and July can be a good time to stay inside.

I see that we are delaying our 60th reunion for another year.  Time will tell what 2022 will bring.  My annual trips to Minnesota are a thing of the past but a reunion is very tempting!
