Jane Margaret Sheldon (Harincar)
Jane Margaret Sheldon passed away on December 16th, 2023 after a long illness exactly 80 years from the day she was born. She had a plan to make it to her 80th birthday and, like many things in her life, she executed the plan with grace and precision.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Violet C. Harincar, a brother, Thomas and her cat, Rainy, and dogs, Arfie, Maggie and Gracey.
She is survived by her former spouse, Robert E. Sheldon, son, John R. Sheldon, brother, Jeremy Harincar (HHS-1959), nephews Stephen (Kristin), Timothy Harincar, Mark Harincar and niece Jill Harincar, good friend Elisabeth Pletcher, plus many grand nieces and nephews.
Jane grew up in Minnetonka, MN and graduated from Hopkins High School. She attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from the University of South Dakota (Yankton, SD) with a degree in Political Science and Native American Studies. She worked for the U of M Hospitals as a buyer and material specialist for 30 years, overseeing the purchase of everything from operating room equipment to sterile leaches.
Jane and her scent-tracking basset hound, Maggie, won numerous awards at AKC-sanctioned field trials for several years. A photo of Jane and Maggie is featured in the hard-cover bible of the breed: "The Basset Hound."
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) and the staff at N.C. Little Hospice for their expert and humane care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jane's name to the Animal Humane Society of Hennepin County.
