Susan Elaine Collins, 74, Aitkin passed away Aug. 21, 2017, at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin after a courageous battle with cancer.
Susan is survived by her husband, Kenneth Collins, Aitkin; brother, David Ferdon, Rochester; sister, Beth Ferdon, Stevens Point, Wis.; sons, Carl (Kris) Schleif, Nowthen and Kenny (Kathy) Schleif, St. Francis; grandsons, Luke Schleif, Matt Netland and Clint Schleif; granddaughters, Kala Schleif and Katelynn Schleif; many nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Steven K. Collins (Bev Boyer), Aitkin; Debby (Mark) LaBore, Ham Lake; Donna Collins, Ironton; Diane Collins, Wadena; Donald Jay (Heather) Collins, Aitkin; and Laura (Clarence Leaf) Collins, Brainerd; stepgrandchildren, Kevin Noren, Daniel B. Gordon, Adam LaBore, Kenneth J. Gordon, Jessicca Monse, Steven Leaf, Ruth Anne Monse, Dustin Collins, Johnny Leaf, Jennifer Monse, Jasmine Collins, Sarah Leaf, Jason Leaf, Tammie Collins and Thomas Speed; and great-granddaughter, Rylee Gordon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ellen (HHS-1959); and her first husband, Arlan “Pete” Schleif.
Susan was born July 9, 1943, in Green Bay, Wis., to Gordon and Ruth Ferdon.
Sue worked in the Aitkin County WIC office for 27 years; she also worked at the Aitkin Dairy Queen, Thrifty White Drug Store, Aitkin Feed and Farm, as well as the Schleif Family Farm in Rossburg.
