Barbara Olson, 80, of Redmond Washington, passed away Sunday, October 22nd after a month-long battle with a previously undetected advanced cancer.

Barbara was born on August 1943 to Walter and Arline (Wally and Dolly) in Hopkins MN. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Terry. She is survived by her sister, Patty (David), two sons Brent (Paula) and Craig (Krista) and three grandchildren (Annika, Anders, and Carina).

Barbara spent her professional career teaching at many local area schools, primarily focusing on elementary-aged children in the Lake Washington school district. She was always recognized in public by former students when they saw her trademark large red glasses that she wore as a fashion statement. She was famous for her teaching style and being prepared, showing children ways they can express themselves in art. Often students would claim that they wished Mrs. Olson was their full-time teacher.

There will be a small gathering in Redmond in celebration of her life at a later date.
