Judy and Sue Kouda and I were great friends. And now both are gone. For a couple of high school years I could be found at Judy's house more often than my own.  We carpooled to the U together and were each other's maids of honor at our weddings.  Judy babysit my older daughter while I finished my last grad school class.  Judy moved to Iowa after her husband graduated from the U, and for years she worked for the Iowa Dept of Transportation. (I bet she was a fantastic secretary.)   She had two children and several step-children with her second husband.  Most of all, she was a wonderful Grandma and enthralled with that role.We saw each other rarely after she moved to Iowa, but often spent a long time on the phone, keeping up with each other's lives and children.  I remember the frightened voice with which she told me that she had cancer.  Yet she was very positive and hopeful until the end.  I miss her very much.  Mary
